今日11月13日は「漆の日」です。
ご報告が遅れましたが、今年も岩手県二戸市浄法寺から新しい漆が届いています。
先日いつものように上塗師たちが集まり開封式wを行いました。皆で漆を肌で感じて、乾き具合など今年の漆の性格を確かめます。
浄法寺の皆さん、今年も本当にありがとうございました。良い塗りものを作れるよう、一滴も無駄にすることなく大切に使います。

Today, November 13, is “Urushi Day”.
We are late in reporting this, but new lacquer has arrived from Joboji in Ninohe, Iwate Prefecture again this year.
The other day, the top coat lacquerers gathered as usual and held an opening ceremony. They felt the lacquer on their skin and checked the characteristics of this year’s lacquer, such as how dry it is.
We would like to thank everyone at Joboji for their support this year. We will use it carefully and not waste a single drop so that we can make good products.

◆蒔絵万年筆　No.9 『菊』
菊は奈良時代に薬用として中国から伝わりました。菊を浸した水を飲むと長寿が保てるとの故事から、延命長寿の象徴となりました。
平安時代以降、朝廷でも好まれ、現在に到るまで天皇家の紋章としても使われています。

本体素材：エボナイト / サイズ：全長150mm / ペン先：14K / 字幅：MF
ヨーロッパタイプのコンバーターおよびカートリッジインク（ペリカン社製推奨）

◆Maki-e fountain pen No.9 “Chrysanthemums”

Chrysanthemums were first introduced from China in 8th century for medicinal purposes and became a symbol of longevity, as it was said that drinking water soaked in chrysanthemums would ensure long life. It was also favoured by the Imperial Court and is still used as the emblem of the Emperor’s family to this day.

Main body material: Ebonite / Size: 150mm / Nib Material: 14k gold /
Character width: M

おむすび皿　黒朱ぼかし塗「草結ぶ」蒔絵

「草結ぶ」とは奈良時代からの風習で、草と草を結び合わせて互いの心が離れないように祈ったり、旅の安全や幸運を願ったと言われています。これからも多くの皆様から良いご縁を結んでいただければ…という想いを込めて製作しました。縁をわずかに上げ、使いやすい形に仕上げてあります。

The term "Kusa-musubu" was an old custom of tying grass together to pray for two people's hearts to stay together or for a safe journey and good fortune. We created this product with the hope that we can continue to build relationships together. The edges are slightly raised to make it easier to use.

塗り椀アート
海外の方々は、日本の伝統工芸品を使うのではなく、飾るものとして楽しむことが多いと耳にしました。
そこで、輪島塗の漆器も「飾る」という新しいアプローチで作品を制作するのはどうかと考えました。
輪島屋善仁さんに「アートとしての輪島塗」をご相談したところ、額装に入った蓋付き椀というアイデアをいただきました。
しかし、その後の震災で計画は一時中断されてしまいました。

それにもかかわらず、輪島屋善仁さんは震災復興の多忙な中でも、このアート作品の制作を再開してくださいました。
今回ご紹介する作品は、震災によって傷ついたお椀を新たにアートとして再生したものです。
その制作過程には、伝統工芸への深い愛情と新たな命を吹き込むための真摯な思いが込められています。

このような尊い輪島塗のアート作品を、ぜひご覧いただき、その美しさと精神をご体感いただければ幸いです。

We heard that people from overseas often enjoy traditional Japanese crafts as decorations rather than using them.
So we thought that it would be a good idea to create works of art using a new approach, in which Wajima-nuri lacquerware is also ‘decorated’.
When we discussed ‘Wajima-nuri as art’ with Wajimaya Zenni, they gave us the idea of a bowl in a frame.
However, the plan was temporarily halted due to the subsequent earthquake.

Nevertheless, Wajimaya Zenni resumed the production of this artwork despite the busyness of the earthquake reconstruction.
The work presented here is a new artwork made from bowls damaged by the disaster.
The production process is filled with a deep love for the traditional craft and a sincere desire to breathe new life into it.

We hope you will visit these precious Wajima-nuri artworks and experience their beauty and spirit.

21日から22日にかけて能登地方を襲った集中豪雨により犠牲になられた方へ、心よりご冥福をお祈りいたします。また、行方不明の方が早く無事に戻られますようお祈り申し上げます。

当社社屋は幸い大きな被害は受けておりません。ご心配いただいた皆様へ厚く御礼申し上げます。

写真は社員が撮った市内の様子です。3､4枚目は一夜明けた状況です。

今回、お取引先様や当社社員の中に深刻な被害を受けた者もおります。元日の地震に続いて再び大きな災害に見舞われ、自然の威力の前に人間の非力さをつくづく感じてしまいますが、前を向いて復興を目指していきたいと考えております。どうか引き続き変わらぬご愛顧のほど、お願い申し上げます。

We pray for the victims of the torrential rain that hit the Noto region on 21, 22 September. We also pray for the safe return of those who are still missing.

Fortunately, our company building was not seriously damaged. We would like to thank everyone for your concern.

Following the earthquake on New Year's Day, we have once again been hit by a major disaster, which makes us feel deeply the ineffectiveness of human beings in the face of the power of nature. Some of our employees have also suffered serious damage, but we are determined to look forward and work towards recovery. We would like to ask for your continued support and patronage.

The photo shows a collection of autumnal patterns. They are decorated with Japanese silver grass, Ominaeshi, chrysanthemums and bush clovers in gorgeous gold maki-e.

先日瓦礫の下から8ヶ月ぶりに救い出した途中工程の品々を、晴天の下で皆できれいに掃除して、一つ一つ検品を行いました。
中には傷みがひどく廃棄せざるを得ないものもありましたが、残った品はこのあと一旦研ぎ直し、製品として新たな命を吹き込むため塗り工程を進めていきます。

Under sunny skies, we cleaned and inspected one by one the in-process items we had salvaged from under the rubble for the first time in eight months.
Some of the items were so badly damaged that they had to be discarded, but the remaining items will be re-sharpened and lacquered to give them a new lease of life as products.

倉庫の公費解体が進行中です。今週から重機が入り、1階を押し潰していた2階部分が撤去されたので、これまで入れなかった場所の捜索が可能になりました。地震から8ヶ月の間、じっと瓦礫の下で救出を待っていた塗りものをいくつか助け出すことができました！

Demolition of the warehouse is underway. Heavy machinery has been in this week and the second floor, which had crushed the ground floor, has been removed, making it possible to search areas that were previously inaccessible. We were able to rescue some of the items that had sat still under the rubble for eight months after the earthquake, waiting for help!

地震からもうすぐ8ヶ月となる今日、ようやく当社の全壊した倉庫の公費解体が始まりました。まずは屋根瓦の撤去からです。猛暑の中、更に暑い屋根に登って作業していただき本当にご苦労さまです🙇‍♀️🙇‍♂️

Today, almost eight months after the earthquake, the demolition of the destroyed warehouse in our workshop has finally begun. The first step is to remove the roof tiles. We really appreciate the hard work of the workers, who climbed onto the even hotter roof in the midst of a heat wave.🙇‍♀️🙇‍♂️

地震からちょうど7ヶ月の今日、北陸地方の梅雨明けが発表されました。季節はどんどん巡っていきますが、こちらの復興の歩みはたいへんゆっくりとしたもので、真冬の地震から今こうして猛暑の季節を迎えていることが信じられないような気もいたします。一歩一歩、元の状態に戻していければと思っております。
全国的にひどい暑さが到来しております。皆様どうぞお身体に気をつけてお過ごしください。

Today, exactly seven months after the earthquake, the end of the rainy season in the Hokuriku region was announced. The seasons come and go, but the recovery process here has been so slow that it is hard to believe that we are now in the middle of a hot season after an earthquake in the middle of winter. Step by step, we hope to get back to normal.
